Luis started creasing hats when he was only seven years old. He started with straw hats and then moved on to felts. At twelve years old, Luis was the new hat man at Joe’s Boot Shop. Joe would constantly challenge him to achieve record sales goals and each month, Luis would break sales records because of his talent in creating individual crease styles.
As time went on, Luis continued to build his customer base and soon had people coming to him from all over
Today, Luis can do over 25 different creases. This number doesn’t begin to highlight his ability to create custom shapes. His newest, custom designs include a spade, hearts and his double horseshoe crease.
If you want a custom crease, no matter how impossible it seems, Luis will do it. “I don’t give up. I haven’t met a challenge, yet, that I couldn’t achieve. If someone comes in with a crown that other people are afraid to change, I’m not. I know I will end up with the look for which you were aiming.”
Luis is also extremely skilled at putting bound edges on any hat, no matter what color and he always likes to add a finishing touch with rhinestones.
